๐ฝ๏ธ **How a Zen Master Washes Dishes** ๐งโโ๏ธ Even washing dishes can be done mindfully. In my opinion, dishwashing may seem unpleasant until you start doing it. Standing in front of the sink, rolling up your sleeves, and immersing your hands in warm water, you realize there's a charm to it. I devote time to each plate, fully aware of it, the water, and every movement of my hands. I know that rushing to wash a dessert plate would make the time spent on dishwashing unpleasant and not worth living. It's sad because every minute and second of life is a miracle. Just like the plates themselves, and the fact that I'm here washing them! ๐ฝ๏ธ๐ If I can't wash dishes joyfully, if I just want to hurry up and finish everything to get to dessert, then even dessert won't bring joy. When I pick up a fork, I'll start thinking about what to do next, and I won't notice the appearance or taste of the treat, let alone the pleasure. Being constantly lost in thoughts about the future, I won't be able to live in the present. ๐จ๐ Every thought and action under the rays of mindfulness becomes sacred. Then there's no boundary between the sacred and the mundane. Yes, I admit, I wash my dishes for quite a while, but in every moment of the process, I'm happy. Washing dishes is both a process and a result: we do it not only to make them clean but also for the act of washing itself, to feel the fullness of life every second. ๐๐ฝ๏ธ๐งผ #Psychology @Motivation
